hi,, i love apple mac but short on budget. is buying refurbished or used from powermax or gainsaver commendable? or better yet your suggestion for laptops under $300? thanks a lot.

    • yes you can buy refurbished laptops if they are sold from trust worthy places. It would be easier for me to suggest you a laptop if you will tell me what kind of works you do on your laptop?

I’m looking for at least a 15.6″ screen, at least 4MG. I want it for travel (love to watch Directv on Southwest) and I also will use it for my tax business. There’s just too much out there to know what to buy. Are ASUS, ACER, LENOVO as good as the Dell’s and other top brands?

  6. Sharon says:

Thanks – not really planning on working while traveling. Want to use it for video on the plane and use it for work also. Looking in the under $400 price range.

I’m not really a technology person, so I don’t have a clue what I’m looking for or what’s good to buy. Im a hospitality and tourism management student and i need a computer for assignments, research, reading, travel around with, watch movie when travelling etc. What computer would be best for me to buy, please help me. I’m really lost.

I need a laptop for work = MUST be able to have java & adobe reader, also surfing internet & emails. (I have a Dell Inspiron 640, Windows XP, about 8yrs old, that is apparently worthless, except to do this &a few other things). I am not very tech savy & even purchased a Dell 1TB hard drive to save/back up my files on here, Dell confirmed it is what I needed for this computer & it apparently is not compatible w/this computer, or the computer is to “old” for it. Anyway, I don’t know if I should stay w/Dell or choose another brand. ( do I be consistent & hopefully save “new” files from a new computer to the Dell hard drive, & I need something compatible w/HP printer). I don’t want to spend over $300, & don’t want to buy an outdated computer either. I’m thinking laptop around 15″, 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive, ??? 2.16 dual core processor???, windows 8.1 -heard windows 10 is NOT good. Please help if possible, deals start tomorrow? Thanks for your help & all your articles, they are great!!

I’m looking at #6 Dell (has cd drive) & also there is Dell Inspiron i3541 windows 8.1, 4GB mem, 500GB hard, (AMD processor), & Dell 15 1500 (WINDOWS 10, DVD player) , 4GB mem, 500GB hard, & intel dual processor. So confused…..

    • Hey Cindy, I would recommend you to buy Dell Inspiron 15 3000 (3rd in list), that laptop seems to be best as per your needs. Well according to me Windows 10 is best windows release ever with lots of new features which windows was missing since years! I would recommend you to buy that Dell laptop and it also comes with 1 year accidental warranty from Dell.

Hi! Your information is very helpful. We would like to get our daughter a laptop so she can easily research and write papers for homework, as well as work with pictures and videos she creates on her iPhone and GoPro. She would like a smaller screen than the 15 inch, but that’s not a must. What do you think?

  13. Dom says:

    • Hi, Dom

Its keyboard and touch pad is also great for typing long docs and making presentations. It comes with latest Windows 10 operating system and Dell provides 1 year of accidental warranty on it. Hi, I’m looking for an inexpensive 15″ laptop to search internet with and do a few word documents. I usually have about 10 browsers open and I save a lot of pictures from my camera on my computer. Which should I get?

    Thank you

    • Hi Marie,
Laptop with more RAM will be best for your daily works so I recommend you to buy Lenovo G50 it has 6 GB RAM which is the highest available at this price range and 500 GB of hard drive will let you store all your pictures.

  15. Dom says:

Would the Asus High Performance (#4 on the list) have any trouble playing HD Streaming video? Assuming the internet connection is enough. Looks pretty good for the price.

  16. Nick says:

Do any of the listed laptops have backlit keys? I was also looking for 15.6 screen, CD/DVD slot, at least 4 USB ports, SD card slot and 4 to6GB memory. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    • Hi Nikki,
