How To Merge Two Drives In Windows 7 ?

You can merge two drives by using third party software and there is nothing wrong in that it makes our work more simpler but why to spend money on that if you can merge drives without it. In this article I will be explaining you how to merge drives by simple and easy steps without re-installing windows and without any third party software.

I have written this article to merge drives for windows 7 users but the people using other versions of windows can also do it in the same manner. So if you are using other version of Windows and want to merge drives than you can also follow these simple below given steps.
Steps For : How To Merge Two Drives In Windows 7
Step – 1
Open Disk Management Of Your System – Right Click on My Computer and Click on Manage in that on left hand side select Disk Management under Storage.
Step – 2
Delete Volume and Free Allocated Memory – Now we are going to delete the drive so that its space can be merged with another drive. Before doing it you should take the back up of the data because after deleting volume you will lost all your data. After taking the backup Right Click on the drive which you want to delete and select Delete Volume. You will be asked to confirm deleting volume Click on Yes and wait for few minutes so that it can delete the volume and free the allocated memory.
Step – 3
Allocate Free Memory To Existing Drive by Extending Volume – After Deleting Volume the memory which was allocated to that drive will be now free and you will see the Un-allocated space of the size of that deleted volume. Now Right Click on the drive with whom you want to merge drive and allocate memory and select Extend Volume.
Step – 4
Complete Wizard and Merge Drives – After clicking on Extend Volume , new wizard will open. Follow that wizard and that’s it your work is done ! Both the drives will be merged and you can restore now your backup.
