Since then I have bought my iPad, I have never used it this much essentially than turning it into second display for my laptop. Well if you also have toy worth $700 and you don’t know what to do with it than this is the best use of it. I bet! iPad is undoubtedly the best tablet for working and even for playing games but if you have laptop and iPad both around you than most probably you would like to work on laptop. I don’t know about all but this is my personal choice, I prefer to work and play games on laptop rather than on my iPad. I use iPad only when I am away from my laptop or while travelling but rest of the time, it is just a useless device for which I spent a lot of my money. But now I am using iPad as a second display with my windows laptop and It has increased productivity in my daily works. You can also use your useless iPad by making it second display of your Mac or PC.
Well to do that there are lots of apps available in the market but one which I prefer and recommend to use is Duet Display. This is the app developed by ex-apple engineers which costs $15.99 (990 INR) but believe me its totally worth paying for this app. There are also many alternative apps available in App Store and even few of them are free but they are laggy and irritating. If you want than you can give those apps a try, but I will be using Duet Display in this tutorial. Not wasting more of yours and mine time let us now begin with our tutorial so that you can turn your iPad to second monitor of your desktop or laptop.
Steps to – Turn iPad into Second Display of Mac or PC
As the title suggests, it doesn’t matter you are using Mac or Windows PC, This app supports both of the leading operating systems in market right now. Well if you are on Linux or on any other operating systems than Duet Display is not for you. I would be using Windows laptop with Windows 8.1 and iPad Air 2 running iOS 8.3 for this tutorial. Let us now begin with steps and make iPad as a second display.
1) First of all go to Duet Display website and install duet setup on your Mac or Windows by downloading from here.
2) Once you download it, download its companion Duet Display app on your iOS device from here.
3) Once you have done this connect your iPad to laptop using USB cable (lightning cable), and launch Duet Display on your windows and iPad.
Simply click on connect in Duet Display on your windows or Mac and you will see windows desktop popping up on your iPad’s screen. Now you are all set to use your iPad as a second display.
In the same way this can be done on Mac too, I hope you like this tutorial and tell me in comments how this tutorial goes for you. I would also like to know any other apps which you gave a try to turn iPad into second display for Mac or PC. Share in comments and let the people know.
